Importing your own models

The process that I described for importing illusion characters can be generalized to all models in general. If we look at Digital Girl, you'll find that modders have imported several of their own models already (and I have also imported them into Yuusha, so basically any models you make for DG can be used in YU as well).

However, I don't have the knowledge to figure out how to do that yet.
But I imagine the process isn't too difficult if you do know how to port characters from one format to another.

From the character import guide, the first step was to set up the xx file. As you should already know since you are at this stage in modding, xx files contain the model information.

When importing from illusion games, we already have the model set up for us.
When importing from an external source, we don't have that luxury.

I am not too sure how custom models were imported to digital girl since they use the same skeleton structure and some of them re-use existing models as the template, but basically you will need to create the xx file from scratch.

If you already have an existing model and can somehow export all of the information that is necessary to re-build it in another format, then you can start adding the skeleton frames, then import the mesh with all of the normals, UV's, and bone weights defined.

That should probably be all that's needed to build the xx file, and after that you just need to follow the rest of the import process.
